Faculty of Music Undergraduate Association

The Faculty of Music Undergraduate Association (FMUA) is the official undergraduate student society of the Faculty of Music. All full-time and part-time music undergraduates are members of the FMUA, and elections are held each year to fill executive and board of director positions.

With students in various years and areas of study making up our many program representatives, commission directors, and executive team; the FMUA works to bridge the student population, faculty, and community members to collaboratively work towards the association’s three main objectives: to promote a positive social and academic environment which fosters community, to advocate for academic and student rights, and to provide students with financial and academic support.

The FMUA’s Program Directors each represent an area of study at the Faculty of Music. These Directors are present at Academic Town Halls hosted by the FMUA each term, to address student concerns and feedback about their respective areas of study; relaying this information to Faculty and Staff. From events like professional workshops or conference opportunities, or working to gather insight from the student body, the Program Representatives are a fundamental piece of  our Board of Directors.

As of now, the FMUA currently has Program Representatives in the Comprehensive, Music Education, Performance, Jazz, and Theory/Composition streams, with additional directors representing First-Year Classical students.

The FMUA’s Commissioners work to build a greater sense of student life at the Faculty of Music. Between Sporting and Social Activities, advocating for Equity and Accessibility, or representing Commuter Students; the Commissioners plan numerous events throughout the year. From health and wellness workshops to socials and holiday activities, monthly breakfasts or charity and fundraising experiences, the Commissioners are a vital part of the Faculty of Music’s events and the FMUA Board of Directors.
